OUR HISTORY
The Moorish Circle Of Mothers And Sons, began as the Moorish American Institute and was founded by Brother James Johnson Bey who opened the doors to the Moorish American Institute in the late 1960’s at 8920 Cedar Ave. Cleveland, Ohio. The journey of Johnson Bey into Moorish History and Science began when he met Charles Mosley Bey, better known as C.M. Bey and became one of his most devout students as many did.
In the 1980’s, Johnson Bey with the help of Darryl Thomas Bey released a 10 lesson course on Moorish history and science to a national audience of Moors, Included with the ten printed lessons were audio cassette tapes giving commentary on those lessons. The results gave new energy to the Moorish movement. Moors came from all over to Cleveland to get more information on C.M. Bey’s work. The Clock of Destiny volume 1&2 and the Moorish Zodiac Constitution became notable must have information which inspired a new generation of Moors interest in astrology and law, and needless to say that it sparked a more in depth search for truth of our history.
